Partnership between leading corrections technology leaders will give incarcerated individuals preparing for reentry access to more than 1,000 U.S. employers

OCTOBER 25, 2022 (Falls Church, VA) — ViaPath Technologies, a company which facilitates connections, educational opportunities, and successful reintegration for incarcerated individuals, has formally announced a partnership with Honest Jobs, the leading national job marketplace for people affected by the criminal justice system. Individuals preparing for reentry at correctional facilities served by ViaPath will now have the ability to look for and land well-paying, in-demand jobs through Honest Jobs’ online job board.

“An important component of successful reintegration and reducing recidivism is ensuring that incarcerated individuals have the skills and opportunities to find good paying and rewarding jobs,” said Deb Alderson, CEO of ViaPath Technologies. “ViaPath is proud to be working with Honest Jobs, an industry leader in second chance hiring which has demonstrated a proven track record of success for thousands of individuals deserving of a second chance.”

Incarcerated individuals can access the Honest Jobs platform right from their secure Inspire® Tablet, which provides educational content, job training classes and helps maintain contact with their loved ones. Since October 2021, incarcerated users in correctional facilities across the country have completed more than 3 million hours of online course work on the Inspire® tablet.

Honest Jobs offers job applicants a free, easy-to-use online job board of companies across the United States that they have certified as committed to fair chance hiring. In addition to help with job placement and resume writing, Honest Jobs also offers a national “Digital Resource Center” for formerly incarcerated individuals to help them with other critical post-release needs, including transportation, housing and more.

“There is a growing movement throughout the country to remove the barriers and stigma that are often associated with people who have a criminal record,” said Honest Jobs CEO Harley Blakeman. “Through our partnership with ViaPath Technologies, we will now be able to connect more incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals with employers who are opening their doors to them.”

It is estimated that 77 million Americans, or 1 in 3 adults, have a criminal record, and more than 600,000 individuals are released from federal and state prisons annually.

ViaPath currently offers access to the Honest Jobs platform in 150 facilities, and projects to expand access to 158 additional facilities served by ViaPath by the end of 2022.

As a presenter and panelist, ViaPath will examine the impact of digital communication capabilities at premiere event for corrections professionals worldwide

October  19, 2022 (Falls Church, VA) — ViaPath Technologies, a global corrections technology leader which facilitates connections, educational opportunities, and successful reintegration for incarcerated individuals, today announced that it will serve as a Major Sponsor and workshop participant at the upcoming International Corrections and Prisons Association (ICPA) annual conference.

The conference, which is ICPA’s flagship event, will take place in Orlando, Florida from October 23–28, 2022. The theme for this year’s world’s largest international gathering of correctional practitioners is “Excelling Beyond the ‘Old’ Normal: Corrections After the Global Pandemic.”

“ViaPath is very proud to again have such a major role in sponsoring and participating in the ICPA conference, and to be back in the company of so many prestigious corrections organizations from around the world,” said Gad Tobaly ViaPath Technologies’ International President. “After having to go virtual the last two years, we are excited to showcase how the corrections community has adapted to the challenges of the COVID pandemic and accelerated the momentum of modernization around the globe.”

ViaPath will participate in a number of high-profile workshops, panel discussions, and other events at the conference, including:

  • “Measuring the Impact of Modern Prisoner Communications” presented by Christopher Ditto, ViaPath Technologies’ Vice President of Research and Development on Monday, October 24 at 1:30pm EST about the positive effects of new digital communication options for incarcerated individuals and their connection with those on the outside.
  • “Navigating Minefields: Introducing Digital Services to Analog Prisons” presented by Christopher Ditto and Eric Gonzalez, ViaPath Technologies’ Executive Director for Implementation and Technology Services on Tuesday, October 25 at 11:00am EST about the role of digital services in the prison system.
  • “Digital Transformation in Prisons” panel featuring Christopher Ditto on Thursday, October 27 at 11:00am EST about the application of emerging technologies in the prison system.
  • “Digital Transformation in Community Corrections” panel featuring Tony Lowden, ViaPath Technologies’ Vice President of Reintegration & Community Engagement, on Thursday, October 27 at 11:00am EST about community corrections modernization.

“One of the foremost goals of the corrections industry is helping to ensure that men and women who are incarcerated have a successful path post-release,” said Christopher Ditto. “There is an abundance of data to suggest that increasing the touchpoints an incarcerated person has with the outside world and strengthening the support network through longer, more frequent interactions with friends and family improve the chances for successful reintegration post-release.”

ViaPath Technologies is the leading global provider of integrated correctional technology solutions, serving over one million incarcerated individuals worldwide, either directly or through our network of prestigious in-country partners.

Through this exclusive agreement, ViaPath Technologies will leverage CypherWorx’s Learning Management Systems (LMS) to provide educational options to incarcerated individuals at nearly 2,000 correctional facilities across the country. These courses provide both current and formerly incarcerated individuals with life skills, education, job training and certifications to aid in successful reintegration.

“We are proud to be working with CypherWorx to give current and formerly incarcerated individuals best-in-class tools, resources and programs to prepare them for whatever career path inspires them, from manufacturing to healthcare to information technology,” said Deb Alderson, CEO of ViaPath Technologies. “Our holistic approach to rehabilitation ensures that individuals who start education and training during their sentences can continue to use these critical resources after release.”

For currently incarcerated individuals, the partnership provides expanded education content, career pathway assessments, and opportunities to earn professional certifications and credentials, including GEDs, MS, AWS, CompTIA certifications, and home inspection or real estate licenses. In less than one year, the corrections technology leader has overseen the successful completion of nearly half a million courses by incarcerated individuals using the ViaPath learning management system

Updated Oct. 13, 2022 (Falls Church, VA) — ViaPath Technologies, a global corrections technology leader which facilitates connections, educational opportunities, and successful reintegration for incarcerated individuals, recently surpassed a milestone of three million learning hours completed by incarcerated individuals on the ViaPath Inspire® tablets. ViaPath’s learning management system (LMS) is currently utilized in correctional facilities all across the United States.

Since launching in October 2021, ViaPath’s LMS has been used by nearly 70,000 incarcerated individuals who have completed over 645,000 online courses. The courses are free of charge to all tablet users and cover a wide range of both personal and professional topics. Among the most commonly accessed and completed are courses on substance addiction recovery, financial literacy, and culinary arts training.

“Education is essential to growth and is a foundational component to breaking the cycle of incarceration,” said Deb Alderson, CEO of ViaPath Technologies. “We could not be prouder of the individuals across the country who have embraced ViaPath’s learning systems as a means to improve their personal outcomes. We look forward to continuing to grow our content offerings and bringing our tablets into more facilities in the near future.”

Certificates are awarded to incarcerated individuals that successfully complete courses, based on their corrections facility’s schedule of access to the tablets. Upon release, returning citizens can continue to access certain services for one year post incarceration, allowing for a smoother reintegration into their communities.

“ViaPath Technologies may have provided the resources, but the credit for reaching this milestone really belongs to the incarcerated men and women who have shown a remarkable dedication to educate and improve themselves,” said Tony Lowden, ViaPath’s Vice President of Reintegration and Community Engagement. “It is a true privilege to help these individuals prepare to reintegrate into society with pride and purpose, and use the education and training they’ve received to obtain gainful employment and be productive participants in their communities.”
